In March 1994, Burt Reynolds and Marc Summers, the “Double Dare” host, were guests on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Things got tense when Summers made a joke about Reynolds’ recent divorce, a touchy topic. Reynolds threw water at Summers, who threw some back. Then, Reynolds smashed a pie in Summers’ face, creating a messy scene. Though it seemed funny, Summers later said it felt more hostile than fun, making it a standout, debated moment in late-night TV. | Historyinmemes
