Who else can’t wait for the warm color schemes and textures of fall? You may have noticed a common theme with most of these techniques…printmaking! Here's why printmaking is PERFECT for fall lessons: 🍂 Creates natural texture that mimics autumn leaves, bark, and seasonal elements 🍂 Works with any grade level (yes, even Kindergarten!) 🍂 Builds fine motor skills while keeping kids engaged 🍂 Uses simple supplies you probably already have in your art room 🍂 Has that “WOW” factor that’ll get kid

They’re simple enough for beginners, but perfect for practicing blending, shading, and composition in one project 💐 A few teacher-tested tips that make this lesson run smoothly: ✨ Let students sketch lightly first with a pale color so lines don’t overpower the blending ✨ Encourage layering light to dark for depth (oil pastels really shine here) ✨ Show how scratching back into

Deep Space Sparkle | Patty Palmer on Instagram: "Valentine’s Day can be a tricky moment for upper elementary art. Projects need enough structure to support focus, but enough flexibility to keep your students invested. This lesson hits that sweet spot and leads to varied, thoughtful results. Students will learn: 💖Color Theory with analogous colors 💖Polygon shapes Helpful tips: 👉Limit your watercolor palette to 3-4 analogous colors 👉Use a small brush to outline each polygon, then fill in with

Your schedule is impacted, your supplies (if any!) run low, and it can feel like no one really gets what you do. But here’s what we know for sure: you’re making a difference. Every single class. Keep bringing creativity, care, and intention into your classrooms each and every week. Share this with an art teacher who needs to hear it! 💌"

We felt that. And what better way to celebrate culture and keep things manageable in the art room than with an engaging Year of the Horse art lesson your students will love? Here’s a little behind-the-scenes peek at the design process

Deep Space Sparkle | Patty Palmer on Instagram: "February is here, and with it comes a beautiful opportunity to bring stories, culture, and creativity together in your art room. When art connects to a story, something really special happens. Students don’t just create something beautiful — they explore identity, belonging, and empathy in a way that sticks. Take Beautiful Blackbird by Ashley Bryan, for example. Students dive into rhythm, movement, and bold color while building understanding and c

This household item might be exactly what you need. No more cleaning paint palettes between classes, just fill whichever color is low and you’re ready for your next wave of students. Plus, they’re the perfect size or portioning paint, so you waste less and keep the mess under control. What do you think? How do you cut prep time down in your art r

Deep Space Sparkle | Patty Palmer on Instagram: "Now that you have your fall palette, we’d recommend having students draw items with wax crayons or an oil pastel because this will encourage students to draw BIG and it’ll create a barrier for the watercolor. Dampen your paper first so that colors blend easily and then use the wet-on-wet technique by dropping wet paint directly onto your wet paper. The result will be beautiful blended colors! 🍂Send this to a teacher that LOVES fall."
