The Skagit river is the largest river in Western Washington, providing Puget Sound with roughly one third of its freshwater. As we think about salmon recovery for our region, no river is more important. There are complex tradeoffs between native fishing rights, hydropower, farming local food, flood management, and preserving natural ecosystems. Tribes, Seattle City Light, farming advocacy organizations, and flood districts would ideally be in healthy discussions about how to make these tradeoffs
