October 16, 1966: On this day 58 years ago, the Miami Dolphins won their first game in franchise history, defeating the Denver Broncos 24-7 in front of 23,393 fans at the Orange Bowl. Miami started its inaugural season 0-5. Quarterback George Wilson Jr., who was the son of the team's head coach, threw a 67 yard touchdown pass to fullback Billy Joe. January 7, 1961: The Detroit Lions defeated the Cleveland Browns 17-16 in the very first Playoff Bowl in front of 34,981 fans at the Orange Bowl. This game featured several hall of fame players including the Browns explosive backfield of Jim Brown and Bobby Mitchell. The Lions secondary featured Yale Lary and Dick "Night Train" Lane.
