⛪️ A cornerstone of New Braunfels history Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church traces its roots back to 1844, when 85 German immigrants formed a small pioneer parish built on faith, perseverance, and community. With few priests in the Republic of Texas and little outside support, the early congregation relied on determination to survive. In 1849, Fr. Gottfried Menzel arrived and famously wrote, “I am the only priest in all of West Texas.” Today, the parish serves more than 4,500 families and re
