Epilepsy (Generalized Tonic–Clonic Seizures) – Drug of Choice Tab. Sodium Valproate 500 mg PO BD Dose: Start 10–15 mg/kg/day, increase to 20–30 mg/kg/day in divided doses. Uses First-line drug for generalized tonic–clonic seizures. Also useful in myoclonic and absence seizures. Mechanism of Action ↑ GABA levels → enhances inhibitory transmission. Blocks voltage-gated sodium channels → stabilizes neuronal membranes. Blocks T-type calcium channels → suppresses abnormal discharges. Prescription Tab
