Celebrating the 460th Anniversary of St. Augustine in 2025 with Founder’s Day events — starting with the landing re-enactment at the Mission Nombre de Dios and Our Lady of La Leche National Shrine in St. Augustine, Florida. On September 8, 1565, Spanish admiral Pedro Menendez de Aviles and his fleet made landfall and were greeted by indigenous Timucuan tribes. Menendez claimed the land for Spain and named the area St. Augustine — he spotted the land from his ship on the Saint’s feast day — Augus
