When the E&LS Railroad pass Pembine, WI heading south you'll see this SD40-2 increase its speed over these newer train tracks replaced using a state grant many years ago.. Might be why they have stop signs at the railway crossings. | Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad w/ Jason Asselin

We got to tour the new Webster Marble's Inventing the Outdoors Museum opening in the new Welcome Center/Multiuse Complex on the U.P. State Fairgrounds in August 2019. The exhibit will take visitors on a journey beginning in the late 19th century, when a rapidly urbanizing America began to seek wild and beautiful places for recreation and rejuvenation. At the same time, Webster Marble — a timber cruiser who had spent 20 years working in Michigan forests — started a company in Gladstone, Michigan,

Take a walk on the Peninsula Point Trail to the shores of Lake Michigan. This secluded trail is a hidden gem on the Stonington Peninsula. Pro tip: in late summer and early fall this peninsula becomes Michigan’s butterfly capital when thousands of stately Monarch butterflies use the unique geography to rest for their flights across the open waters of Lake Michigan and Green Bay on their way south. Summer days in Delta County are made for this. Nick and Marklyn stopped by to explore Ludington Park by land and water, taking in iconic sights like the Sand Point Lighthouse and the Escanaba Harbor Crib Light. They wrapped up the day with a pasty in Van Cleve Park — a perfect mix of adventure and tradition along our waterfront. Find places to stay and more things to do: VisitEscanaba.com | Visit Escanaba

Resting in the main yard of the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad at Wells, MI is this rarely seen EMD FR7 built in 1949. Numbered ELS 901 and ELS 106 hidden behind is awesome just to see them while imagining what they must have been like running down the line! It may appear that I crossed the fence, but I did not. At no time did my feet go over the property line thru the open fence. It appears they need to just lock the gate! Check out the Oregon California & Eastern locomotive! The old F7's we

This episode of Michigan Moments looks back at Escanaba, Michigan during the years 1890 to 1940, when iron ore, lumber, railroads, and commercial fishing shaped daily life along Little Bay de Noc. Using rare historical photographs, the video traces how Escanaba grew into one of the most important iron ore shipping ports on the Great Lakes. Viewers will see the rise of massive wooden ore docks, including the dramatic 1909 collapse of Ore Dock No. 5, and how the town rebuilt and continued shipping
