Dolly Parton on Instagram: "In September 1987, Dolly!, an ABC prime-time variety series, debuted on network television, setting the record for the highest-rated premiere of a new series. “In one of the last episodes, I made sure to do a version of “Star of the Show.” It’d been released as a single in a few other countries but not in the States. It was an up-tempo song with a disco bass and a fun chorus on my 1979 album Great Balls of Fire, and I sang it at concerts the year that album came out.”
