Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan were established on 21 January 1993, with the Belarusian Embassy in Tashkent being opened in February 1994. Uzbekistan also has an embassy in Minsk.

The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus began work in March 2018. The legal framework of bilateral cooperation currently contains more than 70 international agreements and documents.

Following the negotiations, bilateral documents have been signed between Uzbekistan and Belarus. The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a Joint Statement.
