The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday afternoon in Kiowa, according to police. Authorities said the shooting happened just before 3:30 p.m. Jan. 30, 2026, after a Kiowa police officer conducted a traffic stop for speeding along State Highway 69.

Kyle Langlee UPDATE: A portion of Grand Avenue is closed on Wednesday morning following an officer-involved shooting that left one dead. According to officials, the closure is from 78th Avenue West to 83rd Avenue West as they continue to investigate.

On Thursday night, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a man, later identified as 62-year-old Jose Cabrera, was shot and killed by three of its officers following a domestic disturbance call in the Dinsmore area.

An armed man was fatally shot by Fort Lauderdale police after he fired his weapon during an encounter. An investigation is underway, with officers on leave. No other injuries reported.

The suspect in a Dallas police shooting charged at officers with a box cutter and reached for an officer’s service weapon, according to police. The man can be heard in body camera video asking the officers to shoot him.

On Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, KCPD and now-former officer Blayne Newton finalized a $50,000 settlement that ends Newton’s time with KCPD.

Each town hall will be held in different parts of town and will work to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community.

Prosecutor Patrick Harrington cleared the Lafayette and state police officers, indicating that their Nov. 21 police-action shooting was justified.
