A recent FDA alert informed consumers that one particular ice cream brand omitted an allergen from its label. On July 23, 2025, Tropicale Foods of Ontario, California issued a voluntary recall of select Helados Mexico and La Michoacana ice cream desserts.

If you or someone in your family is lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy, discard any recalled La Michoacana or Helados Mexico products. You may be able to return the product to the store for an exchange or refund. If you can eat dairy products, then this ice cream is still safe to eat.

The Food and Drug Administration issued a recall for over a dozen flavors of ice cream bars that were sold across the country.
