President-elect Donald Trump met Friday in Palm Beach with Mark Rutte, the secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and one of the latest leaders to come to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump. The pair "discussed the range of global security issues facing the Alliance," NATO said in a news release.

The sudden visit to Florida by the leader of Canada comes days after Trump threatened to impose a 25 percent tariff on Canadian and Mexican goods.

Neither Trump nor Trudeau publicly announced the meeting, but the Canadian official was seen exiting a hotel in the area and told reporters that he and Trump had enjoyed an “excellent conversation.” He reportedly traveled to Florida alongside Canadian public safety minister Dominic LeBlanc.
