By John Irish KANANASKIS, Alberta (Reuters) -French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday underlined his differences with U.S. President Donald Trump over Iran, appearing to oppose tougher military action against Tehran that could lead to regime change and plunge Iran and the region into chaos.
In an angry post on social media, President Trump suggested that President Emmanuel Macron of France was a publicity seeker with no clue about American plans in the Israel-Iran conflict.
President Trump took a swipe at French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday morning, accusing his European counterpart of inaccurately suggesting he abruptly returned to Washington from the Group of Seven (G7) summit to bolster peace talks between Iran and Israel.
Meanwhile, the fighting between Israel and Iran is getting worse. It has now continued for five days, and Iran has fired several missiles at Israel. Trump has also asked Americans to leave Tehran as the situation grows more dangerous.
