Amid persistent heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions, authorities have ordered the closure of schools across several regions in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala. The precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of students amid challenging weather conditions caused by Cyclone Fengal.

To assist residents, 329 relief centers have been set up across Chennai, providing food, water, and shelter. Schools and colleges are closed in Chennai and Puducherry.

Cyclone Fengal made landfall on Saturday night between 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm IST, near Puducherry, with wind speeds of 70-80 km/h, gusting up to 90 km/h.

Cyclone Fengal weakened to a deep depression over north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, causing heavy rainfall and flooding. Schools and colleges were closed in several districts, and train services were disrupted.
