Vancouver Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen signed the biggest contract extension of his NHL career on Friday after being a late-summer signing before the season.

On Friday, the Canucks’ rewarded Lankinen’s efforts with the first long-term contract of the 29-year-old’s career, re-signing him to a five-year contract extension with an average annual value of $4.5 million.

Kevin Lankinen signed a five-year, $22.5 million contract with the Vancouver Canucks on Friday. The deal, which begins next season, has an average annual value of $4.5 million. The 29-year-old would have been an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
