A winter storm watch is active in southern Kentucky until late Friday night as much of the commonwealth is expected to receive more snow Friday.

Light snowfall began Sunday morning and could get heavier until at least 1 p.m., the weather service said in a statement.

Winter storm warning: Delay all travel if possible. If you must travel, keep emergency supplies in your vehicle. Winter weather advisory: Slow down and use caution while traveling.

The National Weather Service has issued multiple advisories warning residents in Louisville and surrounding areas to brace for incoming cold weather. The agency issued a Winter Weather Advisory to be active from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and a Cold Weather Advisory that will be in effect 7 p.m. Sunday through 1 p.m. Monday for Louisville.

Between 2-5 inches of snow was collected across our area. Some light showers are possible Monday morning early and again Tuesday before bitter cold arrives midweek!
