MONTGOMERY, Ala. ( WSFA) - The late former President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn Carter, were active with Habitat for Humanity for decade. The couple helped build many homes for those who need a helping hand. In Montgomery, the organization held a special ceremony to honor the former president.

As part of his humanitarian efforts, Jimmy Carter and his family had been closely involved with Habitat for Humanity for over four decades.

On Wednesday, the Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Habitat for Humanity chapters put a memorial in the Arnot Mall, honoring Carter's commitment to affordable housing.
