A late comeback attempt fell just short for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 5-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Toronto led 4-0 through two periods at AMALIE Arena, but the Lightning scored three goals in the final nine minutes to make it 4-3.

After Hedman passed Marty St. Louis (588) as the Lightning’s all-time assist leader, he joked that his record would be short-lived. Kucherov stands just 15 behind him with 575 in 747 career games, compared to Hedman’s 590 in 1,075.

While the Lightning lost this matchup, they certainly went down with a fight. After being down 4-0, the Lightning scored three unanswered goals in the third period. Mikey Eyssimont, Jake Guentzel, and Cam Atkinson each scored.
