Tanzania's ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party, which has dominated the east African nation's politics for decades, won more than 98 percent of seats in this week's local elections, official results showed Thursday.

Tanzanians voted in local government elections on Wednesday that the main opposition said was rigged after thousands of its candidates were disqualified from running.

Tanzanian opposition party Chadema, said two of its members were killed on the eve of Wednesday's local elections, and accused the authorities of rigging the vote.
