OpenAI’s new study mode for ChatGPT throws questions back at students, but the learning feature doesn’t address generative AI’s underlying disruption of education.

OpenAI has understandably pitched its new ChatGPT Study mode as a tool for students. The Socratic questioning, quizzes, memory checks, and feedback are designed to help students learn topics in ways that best suit their individual learning needs.

"Study mode" is now available on ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot developed by OpenAI, that is intended to address concerns about its impact on students
