The Broadway musical “MJ,” at The Bushnell through Dec. 15, offers a deep, dark look at a musical icon without losing its desire to be entertaining.

Anyone who misses the legendary Michael Jackson need only spend a few hours watching “MJ” — currently onstage at Proctors in Schenectady — to feel his presence.

To be honest, I’ve mixed feelings about Michael Jackson. I love his music and artistry, yet deplore his offstage behavior. So, I was hesitant about seeing “MJ: The Michael Jackson Musical,” when it first arrived on Broadway - where it’s been a hot ticket since.

MJ was singing. And she climbed onto the stage. To shower her idol with kisses. But she couldn’t imagine his reaction. Michael Jackson didn’t waste the chance. But he would regret it a few seconds later.
