A New Zealander who had fallen ill from suspected methanol poisoning in Laos has now returned home, authorities have confirmed. No other details were given about the tourist, who is among several that fell sick or died in recent weeks after consuming what may have been tainted drinks in Laos.

Australia correspondent Peter Ryan spoke to Lisa Owen about investgations continuing into a suspected mass methanol poisoning in Laos that killed two Melbourne teenagers. The Australian Federal Police has offered to work with Lao authorities and travelers have been warned about the risks of drink spiking in South East Asia.

A methanol poisoning incident in Vang Vieng, Laos, has resulted in six tourist deaths, including citizens from Australia, Denmark, the UK, and the US. A New Zealand citizen was also affected but survived.
