The Bears, after an embarrassing loss on Thanksgiving, fired Matt Eberflus – the first in-season coaching firing in the team's century-plus existence.

The Bears thought they were in position to rise in the NFC North but sit last in their division and have lost six straight games.

It turns out, they were right. For the first time in franchise history, the Chicago Bears fired their head coach mid-season. Matt Eberflus did what Marc Trestman, John Fox and Matt Nagy could not, forcing the front office to eat the rest of his contract.
