Speculation about who outed Khalid grew as soon as he made the startling disclosure. Many fans suggested that rapper and singer Hugo Almonte was responsible. Almonte, 28, who is openly bisexual, shared a photo on X of him and Khalid less than 30 minutes before the latter began posting.

The Grammy nominee, 26, posted a rainbow flag emoji and short statement, then added in another post that he had been "outted."
