Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) and the alleged victim at the center of an assault investigation by Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) are both denying that a “physical altercation” took place on Wednesday when D.

A Florida congressman is under investigation for an alleged assault in Washington D.C., an incident report from the Metropolitan Police Department shows. The NBC-owned station in D.C. is reporting it happened Wednesday afternoon at a penthouse in a luxury apartment building.

Rep. Cory Mills, a Republican, was booked with simple assault on around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday. MPD arrested the congressman at an apartment unit on Maryland Avenue Southwest. "This is an active criminal investigation and there is no further information on the case to provide at this time," Police spokesman Tom Lynch said.
