Fire crews in Johnston have extinguished a gas fire that shot flames dozens of feet into the air. That fire was reported just before noon off Colorado State Highway 60 between County Roads 13 and 15.

At just over 12,900 acres, the fire is bigger than all the other western slope fires combined and is one of several fires that prompted Colorado Gov. Jared Polis to issue a disaster declaration on Sunday.

The heat continues for Colorado this weekend, and so does the mostly dry weather. As a result, the fire danger is incredibly high for the western half of the state.
