National Weather Service (NWS) meteorologists issued a sudden tornado warning and severe thunderstorm warnings in St. Louis, Missouri, late Thursday morning, urging roughly 150,000 people within the forecast area to seek immediate shelter.

As severe thunderstorms roll across California, the possibility of funnel clouds or a tornado can't be ruled out. A portion of the Central Valley is under a marginal thunderstorm threat, according to the Storm Prediction Center. This means that conditions are in play for a thunderstorm to develop.

Three years ago a tornado tore through the Montgomery County neighborhood, damaging homes and claiming two lives.

There are three emergency storm shelters that open if an outdoor warning siren sounds in Davison County. These include the Davison County Courthouse in Mitchell, the Downtown Gym at First and Main streets in Mount Vernon, and the Ethan Public School in Ethan.

The National Weather Service released an updated tornado warning at 9:01 p.m. on Thursday in effect until 9:15 p.m. for DeKalb and Jackson counties.
