Snowfall projections have jumped yet again for the major post-Christmas storm, with the latest National Weather Service map now showing up to 8 inches or more in several tristate communities. The newest forecast,

The biggest snowfall totals were north and east of New York City, specifically Connecticut and parts of Long Island. This is where the storm primarily performed as expected, with totals of 7-9". Some of the highest snow totals recorded were 9.1" in New Fairfield, Connecticut, and 7.5" in Babylon, New York.

Heavier snowfall has been reported in Upstate New York, with 9.2 inches in Poughkeepsie and 10 in Pine Plains. For numerous counties, Governor Kathy Hochul has declared a disaster emergency due to "imminent danger to public transportation, utility services, public health, and public safety systems."

Snowfall projections have been bumped up for the post-Christmas storm, with a new National Weather Service map showing widespread 5 to 7 inches now likely across much of the tristate area, and even higher totals in some spots.
