Newcastle's UEFA Champions League run came to a screeching halt on Wednesday, but they traded haymakers (and goals) with the mighty Barcelona in a breathless first half, before conceding four unanswered in a 7-2 defeat.

FC Barcelona and Newcastle United are currently tied 1-1 on aggregate.

The Champions League quarterfinals are set. Wednesday's Round of 16 ties saw Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Atletico make it through to the final eight, joining Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Sporting in the latter stages.

Barcelona came into the knockout round on a bit of a high. Along with competing for another La Liga title, the Spanish superpower finished in the top eight to secure a bye to the Round of 16.
