Delhi Capitals tried to use RTM in the IPL 2025 but lost their wicket-keeper batter and captain to Lucknow Super Giants.

Rishabh Pant was not retained by Delhi Capitals even though he had captained the franchise in three out of the last four seasons since IPL 2021 and was seen as one of their main batters.

Rishabh Pant has refuted Sunil Gavaskar's speculation that his non-retention by the Delhi Capitals was due to financial disagreements. Pant clarified that money was not a factor in him not being retained by the IPL franchise.

A total of 182 players were sold across two days, for a whopping ₹639.15 crore. Rishabh Pant of LSG, emerged as most expensive buy at ₹27 crores. Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest cricketer to get an IPL contract at 13 years.

Delhi Capitals, surprisingly, released Rishabh Pant ahead of the auction, but the fans were hopeful that the franchise will probably bring him back using the Right To Match option
