When newly acquired Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Nolan Arenado found out he was being traded to the desert, he was in shock. Not necessarily because of where he landed, but because of how long the process took and for it to finally come to an end.

A native of Orange County, he's close to home, and he's familiar with the Phoenix area from his time with the Rockies — who share Salt River Fields with the D-backs as their Spring facility.

For Nolan Arenado, the trade that sent him from the Cardinals to the Diamondbacks is a fresh start that also has a homecoming feeling for him. The Diamondbacks acquired Arenado on Tuesday in exchange for Minor League right-hander Jack Martinez.
