Investigators collected someone else's DNA from JonBenét’s fingernails and her underwear. Ultimately, the docuseries calls into question the validity of the DNA testing, but it had been previously determined that neither Patsy, John, nor Burke matched it.

Eight hours later, John Ramsey discovered JonBenét’s body in the basement. She was found with duct tape over her mouth and a nylon cord tied around her wrists and neck. In a move that further compromised the crime scene, John carried his daughter’s body upstairs, removing her from the location where she had been found.

John and Patsy continued to deny claims they had any involvement in their daughter’s death. Online true crime enthusiasts have also accused JonBenét’s brother, Burke Ramsey, of killing her, which he denied in various rare public appearances over the years.
