Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti Sunday said that there is no difference between the situation in Bangladesh and India. Mufti said that minorities in both the countries are facing persecution.

ISKCON followers held prayers and 'kirtan' at its Albert Road centre in Kolkata to highlight the plight of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, where they are suffering atrocities.

Two more Hindu priests were arrested in Bangladesh, ISKCON Kolkata spokesperson Radharamn Das claimed on Saturday.

His comments comes comes in the backdrop of unconfirmed reports of arrest of three more ISKCON monks, days after the arrest of spiritual leader Chinmay Das.

The development comes amid widespread protests by Hindus across Bangladesh following the arrest of former Iskcon leader Chinmoy Krishna Das earlier this week on sedition charges.

The move comes in response to violent protest that erupted after the detention of ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, who has been accused by the authorities of killing an advocate. ISKCON Bangladesh has vehemently denied these claims,

Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal protested in Mangaluru, urging for the protection of Hindus in Bangladesh following the detention of Hindu priest Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu. They discussed fears of a systematic effort to drive Hindus out of the country and called for intervention from the United Nations and the Indian government.
