The Department of Transportation’s inspector general has opened an audit into the relocation of the Federal Aviation Administration’s air traffic control facility responsible for flights approaching or departing Newark Liberty International Airport.

The National Transportation Safety Board has opened public hearings on a January midair collision between an Army Black Hawk helicopter and a commercial jet.

The National Transportation Safety Board is also expected to release a trove of documents related to the fatal midair collision in January between an Army helicopter and a regional jet at Reagan National Airport.

The NTSB will hold hearings to investigate the Jan. 29 crash between an American Airlines jet and an Army Black Hawk helicopter, examining potential factors including altimeter issues on the helicopter and the use of night vision goggles.
