After 16 major league seasons, Evan Longoria is officially hanging up his spikes–and doing so where it all began.

The three-time All-Star officially calls it quits, more than one year after his last appearance in a major league game.

The Tampa Bay Rays announced on Monday that franchise icon Evan Longoria is set to retire from Major League Baseball. Longoria will be signing a one-day contract on June 7 to officially retire as a member of the Rays.
