El Cajon residents were informed by police Friday that they can now keep informed about police activity in their neighborhoods by using a new web-based technology called Citizen Connect on their mobile phones or computers with internet access.

A veteran El Cajon police officer with deep roots in the East County community has been tapped to be the next chief of the El Cajon Police Department. Capt. Jeremiah Larson will become the city’s 16th police chief when he steps into role on Dec. 18, following his selection by El Cajon City Manager Graham Mitchell, the city announced Tuesday.

After the sitting police chief Mike Moulton declared his retirement earlier this year, the city of El Cajon announced his successor Tuesday.

A long-time member of the El Cajon Police Department who hails from the community will take over as chief this month, city officials said.

Law enforcement veteran Jeremiah Larson, a 22-year member of the El Cajon Police Department, will take charge as head of the agency this month, city officials announced.

Officers responded to a call of a stabbing on the 500 block of North Mollison Avenue; when they arrived on the scene, they found the man with a life-threatening stab wound.

"This grant is beneficial to the city of El Cajon and will fund many police operations focusing on enforcement and education for alcohol related offenses occurring within the city of El Cajon," said a statement from the ECPD Special Enforcement Unit.
