ROBBINS, Ill. (CBS) -- A vehicle was struck by a Metra train in south suburban Robbins Monday afternoon, right before the start of the afternoon rush. Metra reported Rock Island District Line train 419, scheduled to arrive in Joliet at 4:02 p.m., hit a vehicle in Robbins.

"Extensive" delays along Metra's Rock Island District line were likely after a vehicle was struck by a train on Monday afternoon near south suburban Robbins, the transit agency said.

The condition of the person struck isn’t immediately known, said a Metra spokesperson who said inbound Union Pacific North train #322 hit the person sometime before 8:40 a.m.
