Several airlines issued travel advisories about their schedules amid heavy rain in the region due to storm set to make landfall near Tamil Nadu.

The uncharacteristically slow pace of the cyclone has caused it to hover over the Bay of Bengal, causing it to gather more moisture. According to experts, this is causing heavy rain in several parts of the state.

Cyclone Fengal is set to make landfall in Tamil Nadu, bringing heavy rainfall and winds up to 90 km/h. The IMD has issued warnings for several districts, including Chennai, with disruptions expected in transport and flight operations.

To assist residents, 329 relief centers have been set up across Chennai, providing food, water, and shelter. Schools and colleges are closed in Chennai and Puducherry.

Cyclone Fengal is expected to cross the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts around the evening of November 30. Reports came that more than 20 flights have been cancelled by the Chennai Airport after the announcement by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
