Niang is a solid role player and is in the final year of his deal, earning $8.2 million. Across four seasons with Iowa State, Niang averaged 16.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.

Niang explained to Mitchell, “I know you’re like a Ferrari engine, but I’m more like a minivan. I need a few laps around the block to get to top speed.” Niang’s “Minivan” nickname stuck.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Celtics are still active in trade conversations regarding recent acquisition Anfernee Simons, as well as former Jazz forward Georges Niang.

He’s shown off some of that ability with the Celtics’ Summer League team but has had a quiet tournament statistically, averaging 5.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists over his two appearances.
