Paris’ Notre Dame Cathedral is preparing to re-open its doors next week, five years after a fire destroyed much of the historic landmark. On December 8, the public will be able to visit the central church, following an opening ceremony that’s scheduled to take place one day prior.

Paris' Notre-Dame Cathedral will reopen on Dec. 7, five and a half years after a devastating fire destroyed its roof and spire and caused major damage throughout.

The 12th-century cathedral is one the world’s most famous tourist attractions. It was undergoing restoration in 2019 when it was engulfed by flames.
