Incumbent state superintendent Jill Underly was challenged by Brittany Kinser, a former principal and special education teacher. She gave her acceptance speech just before 10 p.m., before the race was officially called. Underly was backed by Democrats, and Kinser, who supports the private school voucher program was endorsed by Republicans.
