The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has backed Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to make a comeback as the Maharashtra Chief Minister. The RSS functionaries believe that it was Fadnavis' face due to which people supported the BJP.

Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule has said leaders of the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the BJP leadership will decide who will be the next Chief Minister of the state.

NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal suggested Ajit Pawar as a potential Chief Minister pick, but emphasised that the decision will be made jointly by the three parties in the Mahayuti.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Monday said no ‘formula’ was being discussed for the chief minister's post and a decision on it will be taken together by the Mahayuti partners.
