Ahmed Basheer Awad, 20, of Westbrook, is accused of shooting another person inside the mall Wednesday afternoon.

The South Portland Police Department has identified the suspect in Wednesday afternoon's shooting at the Maine Mall as authorities continue to search for him.Ahmed Basheer Awad, 20, of Westbrook, is wanted on a felony charge of elevated aggravated assault in connection with the shooting,

The department wrote on their Facebook that the suspect, Ahmed Basheer Awad, “wanted to turn himself in to police so there could be a safe and peaceful resolution for all involved.”
