Mistakenly deported Salvadoran native Kilmar Abrego Garcia appeared in a Tennessee courtroom Friday, hours after he was brought back to the United States to face criminal charges for allegedly transporting undocumented migrants within the U.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man the Trump administration conceded had been wrongly deported to a notorious El Salvador prison, has been returned to the United States and is scheduled to be arraigned in a Nashville federal court on Friday.

After a controversial deportation, Kilmar Abrego Garcia was indicted in Middle Tennessee on human trafficking charges. He appeared in court June 6.
